sewing lotus leaf tea mat with ramie fabric

lotus leaf tea mat with ramie fabric

My tutorial video

It is made in Korea's traditional crafts.

Ramie is one of the fiber crops.
It has been used in Asia since many years ago.

It has a unique texture and has good ventilation properties.
But in general, the price of ramie fabric is expensive.

Our ancestors did not throw away pieces of this fabric.
They collected and stitched them together
to make Jogakbo(Korean traditional patchwork).

How to do

1. Draw a circle with a diameter of 30cm.

2. Draw eight radial lines.
And make branches at the end of it.

3. Leave 1cm of hem allowance and cut it.

4. Fold twice so that the width of the hem is 0.5cm.

 5. Sew the hem with quilting thread.
(or two strands of DMC25 embroidery thread)

running stitch

6. Fold the fabric along the drawn line.
And rub it with your fingernails.

7. Sew down the length of the fabric,
close to the fold line.

8. Make double fold bias tapeper(pendicular) .
*Cut your fabric into "size 4cm*20cm".

9. Make 2 fabric tulips.
