How to do the Palestrina stitch
Palestrina stitch aka cable stitch, old English knot,
double knot stitch, and tied coral stitch.
This stitch is used for outlining or bordering.
When you work on this stitch,
it is recommended to use
a thick thread like a pearl cotton.
First of all, draw a straight line on your fabric.
Work from left to right.
Bring the needle out from the left end of the line.
Pick up a little bit of your fabric
from above the line to below the line.
Pull the thread through.
As a result, one diagonal stitch is created.
Pass your needle from top to bottom under the diagonal stitch.
Don't pierce the fabric.
And then pull the thread through gently.
Pass the thread one more time to the right.
At this time, place the thread under the needle.
Gently pull the thread again.
This is the first Palestrina stitch.
To make the second stitch, repeat the first step.
Insert the needle vertically to make the second diagonal stitch.
In conclusion, this stitch is to wind the thread twice
over the diagonal stitch.
Actually, it is recommended that
the knots should be evenly spaced and close together.
